Activity & Outcome: Review the contract in full. Assess the contract outline a summary for 'next steps' for management. Developed a comprehensive negotiation strategy, plan and process. Executed plan and lead negotiations. Prepare contract variations and work with legal teams to complete documents for final signature. Completed Board paper as part of recommendation to award. Close out financial value models and file all related correspondence.

Task: To review and manage a suite of contracts post implementation and ensure that the contracts were managed in line with what was agreed and where required develop processes to ensure governance.
Activity & Outcome: Review all contracts (gap analysis) and act as an interim contract administrator. Develop contract tracking systems that linked into the clients business systems. Completed handover to the internal team post internal re-organisation. Handover completed with full process overview training and 'how to guides' for on going management.

Task: Review current procurement strategy, structure and historical performance. Assess strengths, vulnerabilities, opportunities, urgencies and priorities and document in a report to the client.
Activity & Outcome: Delivered a detailed report to the executive team with a 10 point plan covering Procurement Stratgey, Leadership, Procurement Planning, Roles and Responsibilities, Capabilities, Business Partner, Savings Measures, Category Management, Strategic Suppliers and Verification Processes. Report endorsed by CFO and translated into clients annual business improvement plan and used as key inputs to function managers in the following year.

Task: Long running dispute between client and supplier resulted in a breakdown of relationship. The task was to review the history and develop a 'go/no go' proposal to close off the matter once and for all.
Activity & Outcome: Conducted a fact base review both current and historical. Worked with the client and its legal resources to develop a range of options. Constructed a draft resolution plan for execution (approval given). Manage and act as an interface for a broad range of stakeholders including the co-ordination of internal team. Develop materials for negations with the supplier and track progress weekly. Support the team and provide coaching in negotiations and commercial practice as required. Assist with final legal review to closure and signatures.

Task: Up load a large body of contracts into the clients P2P ERP. Develop training for site users to purchase goods via the clients ERP.
Activity & Outcome: Three months post completion the client's 'off contract' spend % went from 60% down to 15% - the project was recognised by the CFO for it's contribution to its transformation programme. Training was delivered and a 3 minute video was developed to enable new employees to quickly use the order process. The video was up-loaded to the client's intranet site and part of new employee on-boarding.

Task: The provision of experienced procurement professionals to assist the internal team to compress the timeline to deliver a suite of services, engineering and goods contracts through to signatures.
Activity & Outcome: Provided support and resources (inc advice to improve the process) to enable the completion of a range of work packages to meet a compressed schedule. In addition the team contributed to the client's internal transformation goals and crossed over into transformation for reporting and idea generation.

Task: To develop, design, deploy and coordinate market approach to concluded with services contracts for the supply of agency nursing to 43 hospitals on a national basis.
Activity & Outcome: Following a PMO approach the process commenced with the client’s SteerCo approval. A category plan was developed that lead to RFP development. In parallel a process was designed to collect and analyse internal data (40,000 lines). In addition, a bespoke evaluation process was developed, the formation of a new contract and a new revision of the specification. The project was large and complex (covering 43 hospitals and healthcare centres on a national basis) with the involvement of the client’s' senior Exco team to sign off all agreements.

Task: To develop, design and deploy a market approach to purchase the energy needs to 43 hospitals and medical centre. .
Activity & Outcome: Following a PMO approach the process commenced with the client’s SteerCo approval. A category plan was developed that was managed by a third party in the energy market. Results were challenge and supplier contracts were reviewed and challenged to the satisfaction of the client. Extra parameters were added to the final contract reflecting the flat profile for the ‘off take’ and an innovative risk management provision was also included for the first time in such a supply contract. The spend was a large % of the budget and the PMO developed Board papers to seek Board ‘pre-approval’ to enable the deal team to ‘act’ within tight market timelines.

Task: As part of a broader business transformation (post acquisition) the task was to set up a new Indirect Procurement team to a newly centralized procurement function.
Activity & Outcome: A full review of the client’s spend (spend cube) was completed 2 weeks ahead of plan with an evaluation of contracts completed in parallel. A busines case was developed where an interim structure was approved to execute 10 (new) major indirect sourcing projects that would provide double digit % cost reduction. As part of an approach to follow a new category management framework the work was transitioned to category leads where ongoing coaching and training was provided over a 16mth engagement. The Indirect strategy provided for major cost savings to the organisation and took a process that was fragmented into a sector leader in some categories.

Task: To develop, design, deploy and coordinate a market approach to concluded with a full services contract for the supply of hard FM across multiple hospitals on a national basis.
Activity & Outcome: A PMO was set up and a detailed category plan developed. A comprehensive 'current state' review was conducted and an internal impact business model was developed as well as an external assessment model (financial and operational). A bespoke RFP evaluation process was developed as well as the formation of an FM centric contract. The project was transformational with many stakeholders covering a large geographical area. The client’s Board were updated and several senior management communications were developed. In addition, negotiation plans were constructed as well as on going Transformation Management Office (TMO) up dates. The project was noted as following ‘best practice’ where the work was converted into templates and learnings were shared with the client’s team as ‘this is what good looks like’.

Task: As part of transformation the client sought to enable its full potential through a review of its external spend and rapidly unlock savings.
Activity & Outcome: Following an earlier diagnostic, a ‘savings refresh’ plan was designed and working with senior leaders a review of major contracts was conducted. The strategy focused on taking a high-risk and rapid approach to savings realisation. Over 3 months the process added 200% to the savings forecast with 100% achieved in realised benefit by the end of the engagement. In addition, several new long-term strategies were identified to manage contract labour and increase productivity by 25% as well as reduced HSE risk. Peripheral CoE and CI committees adopted the learnings which were replicated across the global organisation.

Task: Detailed review of maintenance contracts for drag line
Activity & Outcome: Review maintenance contract for ideas to reduce costs. Concluded that moving similar (low risk) mechanical parts and fabrication materials to low-cost countries would yield up to 20% savings. Existing shut down practice was subject to operational plans which were constantly moving – often pushed out and the time shortened. Held several workshops with leaders to explore options and solve problems. After several sessions a new strategy and programme was proposed. A key item was a meeting with suppliers to 're-frame' the SoW in a way that added value to both parties and reduced risk. During the process a new heath and safety system was reviewed for inclusion in the first shut down. This was an exciting conclusion as the client had been looking for several opportunities to test this new process.

Task: Detailed review of FM contracts serving FIFO Camps
Activity & Outcome: Several FM contracts were reviewed. A major issue was the pricing mechanisms/ structures within the contracts. These pricing mechanisms requiring significant time to validate and manage and were overly complex cosuming x4 time to process at both the buyer and seller end. Several disputes had emerged resulting in a tense contractual style of communication between the parties. After a detailed review of the contract management process recommendations were made to reset the relationship and simplify the commercial process with improved transparency. Rates for rooms were also reviewed as well as other KPIs which were a ‘hot point’ for both parties. The appointment of interim contracts administrator to work through an issues log had proven successful early into the engagement.

Task: Detailed review of airline contracts used for FIFO
Activity & Outcome: Reviewed charter agreements for efficiency gains. A desk-based review identified elements within contracts that enabled the buyer to modify it's mode of operation subject to utilisation conditions. Potential changes to ‘hold at gate’ options were modelled and found attractive for the client in the event that a move to a new shift pattern was agreed.

Task: Detailed review of contracts serving a large FIFO camp in Australia
Activity & Outcome: Review several large and complex camp lease and management contracts ahead of a pending change to the client’s operations programme. Reviewed impact of Take or Pay that was a cause of tension to the buyer. Recommendations to review other location points were made to balance out the use of camps and increase overall system utilisation. Facilitated a cross team review workshop to seek opportunities to reduce 'waste' in the system and develop a short and long term plan for the client.

Task: Cost to hire v Cost to repair (existing fleet)
Activity & Outcome: A detailed commercial evaluation to assess the cost benefit of moving to a Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) hire (dry) v existing fleet repair plan. The HME hire market in the region was tight on several key HME items (costs had increased substantially). A review of both the external market and in-house costing was conducted and recommendations provided to the senior leadership team. The review identified other areas to review such as in-house data and unrecorded parts held on site; this was added to other improvement streams in effect with the client.

Task: Review of spares and spares management system
Activity & Outcome: Client’s asset management function is reliant on accurate and easily identifiable data to plan and execute major operational shut downs. Large lines of spares were not linked to Bill of Material (BOM) system. Review highlighted poor system design and data inefficiencies which would continue to grow over time. Review developed a 3-phase approach to address the gap. All critical materials were to be identified and up loaded into the systems (BOM) as part of Phase 1 and 2. In addition the KPI of Delivery In Full On Time (DIFOT) was elevated to the master ‘Lean Board’ with other material KPI measure to be added by year end.

Task: Advice and support on best approach to respond to the buyer as part of a major contract extension
Activity & Outcome: The client was seeking support and advice ahead of providing a major contract extension to the buyer. A review of the current contract was conducted (financial and operational). A risk assessment of the extension was also conducted and risks presented to the senior leadership team. Through the whole negotiation process guidance was provided covering the recommended approached, submissions and interpretations from the procurement team. The clinet was scessful in its goals

Activity & Outcome: The client sough assistance to review a major RFP. A new contract form had been issued in addition there were changes to the response process from previous communications. A review of each artefact was conducted from RFP, scope of work and relevant documents. Modifications were made to draft responses and guidance provided to the client how they should proceed. A risk assessment was made of the new approach and how the seller should respond.

Activity & Outcome: Working with the client's senior team a full benchmarking review was undertaken. Training provides insights into how a deal room works, roles of the buying team and the tools used to analyse commercial submissions.

Task: Review a multi million dollar fit out tender and provide pre-negotiation advice and guidance to the regional BD team.
Activity & Outcome: Delivered advice to the BD team on the best approach to work with the buyer's deal team. Advised on the process and potential questions anticipate during the formal tender presentation to the buyers. Set up a 'mock meeting'; drew learnings from the mock session and made changes ahead of the formal meeting.
